Support of Multimedia Sip Applications over Manet: Service Discovery and Networking Architecture

چکیده

This paper presents network architecture options along with their service discovery mechanisms, enabling realtime interactive multimedia session applications using the Internet Engineering Task Force’s (IETF) standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) in MANET. Two SIP MANET networking architectures are presented, both with and without a SIP proxy/registrar service. Effectively integrated into the MANET proactive routing protocol, a unified SIP service location distribution mechanism is devised which can discover SIP service capabilities and locations under both network architectures. The proposed scheme minimizes infrastructure cost, protocol overhead and callsetup latency. Comparison of the different SIP MANET architectures and their proposed service discovery mechanisms is presented via performance simulation results.
